Luminary Studios is a performing arts organisation dedicated to personalised and relevant training and education for children and young people aged 3 to 24 years old.
We are an institution where children and young people can feel connected and participate in the performing arts, socialise and learn in our youth zone, celebrate their achievements through various live performances and expand their cultural experience with our trips and visits.
Our training and examinations specialises in the disciplines of acting, singing, dancing and musical theatre. The classes and courses have been carefully planned and structured but are adaptable to meet the needs of our individual students. Designed by teachers with years of experience in education and the performing arts industry, we pride ourselves in delivering training that will not only extend our students technical skills but also develop a rounded sense of confidence for their future.
We believe that a structured youth-group setting is an effective way of nurturing our human need for positive and in-person social interaction whilst focusing on aspirational goals and qualifications. Our Youth Zone is an outward looking and relevant provision for 11 to 18 year olds. It is a space for young people to gather and participate in FREE life-skills programmes and outreach community projects throughout the academic year.
We understand the importance of rewards and celebrating achievements when individuals accomplish personal milestones. Therefore, our students are given the opportunity to perform, celebrate and attend trips and visits. Expect wonder, fun and brilliance.
Without effective youth groups in action, young people often experience a lack of ambition, focus and confidence, which are then replaced with crime, mental health issues and isolation. “The lack of ‘somewhere to go in the evening’ is a stock of grievances among many teenagers and often cited as a reason for them going off the rails… however youth clubs can be improving when structured activities such as sport, art or drama are laid on” (BBC: 2007).
Although the BBC article was published over 10 years ago, the argument still remains, with over 51% of 11 to 18 year olds stating from our survey that they would attend an arts-based activity if it was in their neighbourhood.
Therefore, we exist:
To form aspirational and confident individuals through the provision of a broad and relevant performing arts curriculum.
To generate a growing cohort of young people that enrol onto higher education courses or go into employment.
To promote community cohesion and social responsibility by providing training, mentoring, workshops and cultural trips and visits.
